Written by: Alejandra Aguilar Flores In 1932, the president of Mexico Pascual Ortiz Rubio resigned his position and there was a financial fall with a loss of 14% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). That was the year that my grandmother Elvia Gonzalez was born in Toluca, Mexico. She lived with her parents and her five siblings. She liked to do housework and she usually went to church. My grandmother is a relieved person, but she likes to be with her family and talk with them. She lived for a time in the State of Mexico with her aunt. Her aunt was an entrepreneur and my grandmother helped her at her store. After one year, she returned to her parents and helped them with the housework. She also worked in a tablecloth factory at 17 because her father had an accident and lost his arm. In 1960, at the age of 28, she married Armando Flores and they had 7 children. After she got married, she moved to Capultitlan and she still lives there with her husband.
